Muji

I feel.......

This one, I'm sure more than anything that its good. I am convinced that its the best and I shall try and convince everyone.

Muji pens are good.

I have always been a little bit of a stationary addict. you can never have enough good black pens. and so, far. Muji pens have never disappointed me like the others have.

the 0.5 and 0.38 black pens have been with me through A level exams, lecture notes, idea generations and etc.....They're pretty much perfect for any kind of usage and they look 'neutrally' beautiful also.

"NBM delivers an archive of base pattern modules, based on a system exclusively developed for that purpose. The result at hand rests upon six geometric forms (circle, square, isosceles triangle, rectangular triangle, hexagon, pill exactly ordered according to properties such as size, distance, offset and outline.

Through superposition, this system guarantees for an infinite number of individually generated patterns or grids. It's for the user to decide whether he chooses controlled superpositions in order to attain congruent results, or Moiree results through self-defined superposition of modules. "

What distinguishes NeubauModul from other pattern books?
Six criteria are essential distinguishing features:
Firstly, the systematics forming the basic patterns. Secondly, the range of a total of 2031 patterns in the digitally available material. Thirdly, the three different end formats of the archive: vector, bitmap, hi-res tiff files, added to by the Adobe swatch library. The user gains a large library, which is intuitively usable in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop through simple “click and fill”. Repeatable, infinitely stringable pattern modules at maximum performance.

Fourthly, the Modulmeter, a practical tool for decision making if it comes to overlays. With this tool (which works somewhat like a typometer), in which a transparent PVC foil is printed on with a selection of different base patterns, the user is able to intuitively test overlays and offsets in the printed part of the catalogue. A very simple way to find pattern solutions one probably wouldn't find that quickly in the digital realm through simple rotation and shifting. With the analog offset effect one can simulate possible animation effects already on paper. Fifthly, an additial bonus font, the cover headline font NB7050 used in the book, also based on a pixel matrix, is included in the book and tops off its concept. Sixthly, the cost/perfomance ratio.

I Spy With My Little Eyes ..

... something beginning with geometry

I've always liked maths, geometry and solving problems.

I remembered Alevels.....so

I abandoned maths....only for a few days

And then i stumbled upon a book : Neubau Modul

the book contains Electronics and Analogue patterns. I'm still not sure exactly what this means but the whole book is full of mathematical and geometrical patterns

and I fell in love with.

with the book

This book is going to start the basis of one of my five researches into good. I fell in love with the patterns in the book and the book itself. So, I'm going to find out more about this book and about analogue pattern design. I feel that I can really take this through to the next part of this module as well.

" Neubau Modul gives graphic designers, architects and creatives from the fashion
and textile industries a wide variety of patterns to use in their daily work.
Previously, when designers needed patterned surfaces for their graphics, backgrounds,
textures, wallpapers or moving images, they had to create them by
hand in a time-consuming process. Now, with Neubau Modul, designers have
a practical tool that gives them access to over 2,000 easy-to-edit and infinitely
repeatable patterns that the Neubau Team, headed by Stefan Gandl and Christoph
Grünberger, have developed during the past three years.
As with Neubau Welt, all of the work shown in Neubau Modul can also be found
as Adobe Illustrator and bitmap files on an included DVD that can be used on
any platform. The DVD also contains the entire digital collection of patterns as
a practical Swatch Library, enabling designers to immediately implement them
in any project in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The Swatch Library makes it
especially easy for designers to combine and edit the examples and to create
new, completely scalable patterns within seconds. As an added bonus, the DVD
contains a headline font designed by Neubau.
Neubau Modul also provides the user with an analogue instrument for making the
best selection of patterns as efficiently as possible the Modulmeter. By placing
and moving the included Modulmeter throughout the book, one can make and
test new combinations of patterns directly on the page.
Neubau Modul is a useful handbook that will make the everyday work of the
designer easier. It is helpful in creating applications for a wide variety of disciplines
that include illustration and architecture as well as web, communication,
motion and textile design."

Too Good

This might need to be referred back to the sketch book

I decided to ignore what I initially thought of doing, categorising my ideas from the beginning and just wrote down on a double page of what I thought was good.

Now I have to sort through a double page full of scribbles

Its harder to write down from the top of your head what you think is good....I have been writing down things that I have recently come across , stumbled upon and things that have shown themselves to be ' good' for/to me.

Everything is good.

What is good....to me?

I can't help but think about what I like rather what is actually good. What is 'good' to someone might be seem so good to the other so I am looking at 'Good' from a personal and subjective point of view. I think if I didn't, this project will turn into a moral and ethics fueled one, which would be absolutely right but perhaps not appropriate for a project like this?

I arrived home last week after not having been home for long time so at that point...home is good

but after a week...its not looking as appealing as it did for the first few days...its good but it may not seem as good as ...perhaps...something that I don't yet have...

human nature keeps us unsatisfied.

First I thought that writing down everything that I think is good would be messy and hard to work with.So I thought about categorising 'good' subjects, objects, concept, statements and 'things.....( as written on the brief)

or make up my own ??

if what is good is subjective and personal ....can be catergorised into what 'I'
...see
...hear
...touch/feel
...smell
....taste

perhaps I'm complicating this?
